Ferric Nitrate | Fe(NO3)3 | Fe(NO3)3·9H2O
Product Name: Ferric Nitrate
Molecular Formula: Fe(NO3)3
Molecular Weight: 241.86
Molecular Formula: Fe(NO3)3·9H2O
Molecular Weight: 404.01
Properties:
1. Ferric Nitrate is an inorganic substance with a chemical formula of Fe(NO3)3 and a molecular weight of 241.86. Its nonahydrate Fe(NO3)3·9H2O is a colorless to dark purple deliquescent crystal, which is easy to deliquesce. The melting point is 47.2°C, the boiling point is 125°C (decomposition), and the relative density is 1.68.
2. Ferric Nitrate is easily soluble in water, ethanol and acetone. Slightly soluble in concentrated nitric acid, oxidizing. Ferric Nitrate can be decomposed by ultraviolet rays into ferrous nitrate and oxygen. The contact of Ferric Nitrate with flammable products can cause burning and is irritating to the skin. Ferric Nitrate is produced by the action of iron filings or iron oxide and concentrated nitric acid.
