1. General Description
Activated carbon is a porous carbon material with a highly developed pore structure and a huge specific surface area. Therefore it has strong adsorption. Activated carbon possesses three categories of pores: micropore, mesopore, and macropore. Their diameter is<20Å, 20-2000Å, and>2000Å respectively. Activated carbon contains different surface oxygen groups and can, also be impregnated with chemical impregnants to produce impregnated activated carbons. Thus activated carbon is not only an excellent adsorbent but also a catalyst carrier.
As shown in the above photo, the interior of activated carbon has a large number of pores. Their expanded surface area is huge. The total internal surface area per gram of activated carbon is proximately 1000m². The total micropore volume is large. lt is of developed pore structure. We can also produce customized activated carbon with various specifications according to customer requirements.

⑺ ZSN series Coal-based Activated Carbon for Desulfurization and Denitrification
Phieyor Brand activated carbon for desulfurization and denitrification is a semicoke activated carbon, which is made from strictly selected top quality coal and blended coal by a series of processes comprising grinding of coals, metering, and mixing of coal powder with tar and water, extrusion of the mixed material into columnar grains under oil pressure followed by carbonization, activation, and oxidation.
The ZSN has a unique porous structure, better abrasion and pressure resistance, and excellent desulfurizing and denitrifying properties. It is designed especially for flue gas desulfurizing and denitrification units for coal-fired boilers in thermal power plants, and steel and iron sintering machines in order to cope with acid rains in air pollution.
As is shown in the process flow chart of the desulfurizing and denitrifying unit, activated carbon is moving in fluidizing bed, accompanying adsorption, catalysis, and then desorption with steam and regeneration. So regular shape, fluidity, high abrasion and pressure resistance, and good desulfurization and denitrification are essential to this kind of activated carbon. At the very beginning, a high degree of activation of the carbon is not required and it will be gradually activated during the period of operation and regeneration.

New type nitrogen catalytic deoxidant is made by using activated carbon as a carrier and containing MgO and MnO2 catalysts. The deoxidant is used for the purification and deoxidation of nitrogen gas or inert gases (oxygen content below 2%).
The deoxidant finds wide use in the production of semiconductor devices, electronics, integrated circuits, silicon single crystal, and germanium single crystal, and where high purity nitrogen is needed. lt is also used for thermal treatment of special steel, removal of oxygen from boiler water, spinning of chemical fibers, production of special refractories, and manufacturing, where high purity nitrogen is provided as protection gas.
13. Formed Activated Carbon Products
Meeting the demand of drinking water and air Purification market, formed Activated Carbon filter elements have been developed.
Thermal die-cast Activated Carbon filter element:
Acid-treated activated carbon with a large specific surface, strong adsorption, and high filtering efficiency is selected as the major starting material. The carbon is die-cast with a non-toxic and odorless binder and then coated with non-woven cloth and food-grade protection screen on surfaces. On both ends are mounted end caps and rubber gaskets.
The filter elements are used for single-element and multi-element water purifiers and osmotic membrane water purification systems.
Application: Effective removal of impurities such as rust, incrustation, fine dust, etc, and harmful substances such as residual chlorine, chloroform, trichloroethylene, mercury, arsenic ions, and organic pollutants. Adsorption of chlorine, arsenic, lead, and cyanides is 95%.
